Majorca holiday in the Autumn/Winter

People are choosing to take holidays in Majorca in the autumn and winter months in higher numbers than ever before. This is according to recent research conducted in a survey undertaken by the Palma Hoteliers Association.

Hotel occupancy rates were up by twenty percent in November 2007 compared to the same month in 2002. This is a huge increase and may indicate a preference for less sun in favor of lower spending among Britons.

The Majorca Daily Bulletin recently published figures which show that tourists don’t just come to Majorca for the sun. Many visitors are tempted by the many excellent cheap restaurants as well as the cultural attractions Majorca has to offer.

When you visit Majorca you have the opportunity of exploring over 500km of beautiful coastline attractions. There so many exciting gems waiting to be discovered. Don’t forget to check out our car hire Majorca Airport service if you choose this option.

Some other spots well worth checking out in Majorca include the Sa Seu cathedral, the sierra de Tramuntana and the Bellver Castle.

The Film entitled “Terminal” featuring  Tom Hanks has become a reality in Majorca’s Airport, where a 48 year-old woman locally from Germany has been using the airport as her home.  Bettina, known as the “cat lady” has become a regular feature of the airport along with the runways and aircrafts.

Bettina is from a peaceful town in Germany. She arrived in Spain 10 years ago, hoping to for a new beginning, after a failed relationship and no job prospects. With no job, shelter, or money, the airport is her home.

She gets by on the generosity of friends or passengers. However, she never asks for anything.  Bettina is always reading, dressed in jeans and a shirt. Bettina is popular among airport personnel.
